In this Employee Spotlight, meet Heather Scally, who was recently promoted to Software Engineer. Over the past several years, Heather has become an integral member of the Interoperability team. Her depth of knowledge, dedication, and willingness to venture into new learning has made her an invaluable asset to Navigating Cancer.

What do you do at Navigating Cancer?
I work in interoperability as a Software Engineer.
What’s the best thing about your job?
I like the logic required for programming and seeing projects that I worked on come to fruition. I also think that it is awesome to be able to work with so many talented and great people at Navigating Cancer.
What’s the most unique job you ever had before working here?
I have not had that many jobs, but I worked at UPS as a package sorter during college where I helped ship a baby polar bear to Dulles, Virginia.
What’s the best thing about working for Navigating Cancer?
Last year, we had a panel with patients who used our products to aid them through their cancer treatments. The best thing about working here is knowing that the products we work on will actually have a tangible effect on improving cancer patients’ lives.
What can you be found doing outside of work?
Currently, I have been learning how to surf. I am excited to be able to start gardening in the next few months.
What’s your secret talent no one knows about?
One would be that I used to skateboard as a teenager. The bravest thing I did was skating a 14-foot half pipe.
