Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon

Tomorrow night @ 8pm Stand Up 2 Cancer is hosting a telethon that will take over all the major networks, as well as many cable channels. Hosted by the three network news anchors, Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer and Brian Williams, the telethon will feature celebrity guests in a one hour, commercial free special to raise funds for cancer research.

Scheduled guests include Michael Douglas, who was recently diagnosed with stage IV throat cancer, Will Smith, George Clooney, Renee Zellweger, Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Denzel Washington and more. They will be joined by cancer survivors including Lance Armstrong, Christina Applegate, Elizabeth Edwards, Maura Tierney, “Survivor” winner Ethan Zohn and others.

The Stand Up 2 Cancer program was launched in 2008 by industry veteran and producer Laura Ziskin after she went through treatment for breast cancer. Since 2008, they have raised over $100 milllion for cancer research.

In addition to the telethon, there are a number of other fund raising opportunities including an Ebay auction where you can bid on visits to the Twilight 3 set, a private flight and party with Virgin Airlines CEO Sir Richard Branson, and a walk on role in the next Spider Man movie!
